Social Networking

We've been so engulf in social media and doing everything digitally, that we have forgotten what being social is really about. Over the past 2 months, I took a break from podcasting and decided to be more social in my own community. Since then, I have met dozens of new people, learned about many events and cultural spaces to visit and learn from. I have also gain the attention of other leaders in the community and have one of them creating the opportunity for me to teach at a local community center. I've also met parents who have expressed their desire to homeschool & after some encouragement and offering of my help, I'm helping them move forward on that goal. There will always be an advantage for those who are able to have face to face conversations, something about the ability to look into someone's eyes and for them to be able to look into yours or read your demeanor that engages them in a way that can't so easily be dismissed. Not like social media, where connections and resources are scrolled past everyday. I think this is also why public groups fail, its easy to scroll pass posts or dismiss notifications.

When I made the decision to build this website, I did it so that as I build my community, I will gain a network of focuses, driven, successful, and connected people, who will grow this ecosystem into the grand wellness ecosystem it was designed to be. This is also true with The Seed Network, there is so much value on one platform the only thing that you can get distracted with is another opportunity to sow and reap.

The point is...we must aim to keep a balance between social networking and social media networking/engagement. There is all this talk about a fully digital world where everyone hides in their homes and they have avatars or robots, build with their favorite features and filters that will run the country and our communities in our place. I don't think so, as humans and creations of nature, we are social beings that love social engagement. For most of us, we don't want to be in a fully digital world and also we have a certain love for humanity that will continue to those of us who find that balance, again, an advantage. If we can create systems that include this balance in its core, then we can maintain our human touch no matter how far technology advances in the future.
